Food Expert Dismisses “Toilet Paper in Sausage” Myth

The long-standing myth claiming that toilet paper is added to sausage products has been dismissed by food technology expert Elena Myasnikova.

Speaking on Govorit Moskva, the associate professor from the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics
explained that the claim is nothing more than a joke.

According to Myasnikova, food production in the Soviet Union operated under strict internal and external quality control systems. She also noted that toilet paper itself was considered a scarce product at the time, making such claims unrealistic.

The expert added that modern meat-processing facilities continue to use quality control systems and internal safety standards, helping ensure product compliance and food safety.

She emphasized that the rumor remains a popular myth rather than a factual issue in food production.
