Scientists Warn of Unstable Geomagnetic Conditions on May 19

Researchers from the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics report that unstable geomagnetic conditions are expected on May 19.

According to forecasts, the geomagnetic activity index (Kp) may fluctuate between levels 2 and 5.5 throughout the day. Around 4:00 a.m. Moscow time, the magnetosphere is expected to reach level 4, considered an “orange” level of activity.

Specialists note that during such periods, weather-sensitive individuals may experience headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, or blood pressure fluctuations.

By approximately 6:00 a.m., geomagnetic activity may rise to level 5.5, classified as a “red” level. Scientists say this could intensify the effects on sensitive individuals and may occasionally influence the operation of some electronic equipment and communication systems.

Forecasts indicate that geomagnetic activity should gradually weaken later in the day. From around 10:00 a.m., the storm is expected to decrease toward calmer levels, with conditions stabilizing further by the afternoon.
