Yerevan Schools to Have a Two-Week Autumn Break Due to COP17

Schools in Yerevan will temporarily switch to a different schedule this autumn due to the COP17 conference being held in Armenia.

According to information provided by Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and reported by Iravaban.net, classes will not be held in Yerevan schools for one week during the COP17 event.

To compensate for the missed school days, beginning on September 15, schools in the Armenian capital will operate on a six-day schedule for five consecutive weeks. This means students will also attend classes on Saturdays during that period.

As a result of the adjusted schedule, students in Yerevan will receive a longer autumn break in October.

Instead of the usual one-week autumn holiday, the break will last for two weeks. The additional week will correspond to the period when classes are suspended because of COP17.

The temporary change is therefore intended to reorganize the academic calendar without reducing the required number of instructional days.

Parents and students should take into account that the six-day school week will begin on September 15 and continue for five weeks, after which the extended two-week autumn break will apply.
