Sister of Pregnant Woman Who Died Near Sevan Blames Husband for Tragedy

The sister of the 22-year-old pregnant woman who died after falling from a vehicle in Armenia’s Gegharkunik region has publicly blamed the victim’s husband, Hayk Ghukasyan, for the tragedy.

In a Facebook post, the woman, identified as Viktorya Roz, described a long history of alleged domestic violence and emotional abuse suffered by her sister.

The tragic incident became public on May 21 after authorities reported that the body of a young woman had been discovered near the Yerevan–Sevan–Ijevan highway. Earlier reports stated that the woman’s husband told investigators they had argued inside the vehicle before she fell from the car.

Police later confirmed that the 21-year-old husband had been detained.

In her statement, Viktorya claimed that her sister had repeatedly complained about her husband’s behavior, including alleged violence, insults, infidelity, and unemployment. According to her, the victim had considered separating from him and returning to Russia.

She also stated that she had personally spoken with Hayk and even attempted to help him find work.

The victim’s sister further alleged that the detained man had previously driven without a license and while intoxicated on multiple occasions, claiming earlier incidents had also ended in serious consequences.

In her post, Viktorya urged people not to spread misinformation and called attention to the dangers of domestic violence.

“Domestic violence is not a private family matter. Silence can cost lives,” she wrote, encouraging people to support victims and not ignore warning signs.

She added that just two days before the tragedy, the family had been planning a gender reveal celebration for the unborn child.
