5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Recorded in Russia’s Kamchatka Region

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake has been recorded in Russia’s Kamchatka region, according to the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The tremors were also felt in the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Officials said the earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 85 kilometers from the regional administrative center.

Earlier in May, a stronger earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 was recorded near the coast of the Northern Kuril Islands. Around the same period, another 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Kamchatka.

No tsunami warnings were issued in connection with any of the recent seismic events.
