9-year-old Pavel Abramov from city of Arzamas, Russia, decided to start helping a shelter for dogs.
To feed all the animals there (about 100), a minimum of 45 pounds of porridge and the same amount of meat are required daily. How can such a young volunteer help with this? The boy is good at drawing and could even sell his work to buy himself toys or a new phone. Instead, Pavel trades his work for food and medicine for the animals and takes it to the shelter.
The boy was seriously hurt by the loss of his family pet, cat named Barsik. After that, he began to pay attention to stray animals roaming the streets. He wanted to help somehow, to do something useful for them. The boy was supported by his mother and together they organized the “Kind Paintbrush” project.
“He came up with a way to help. There can be no money transactions here, everything should be clean, transparent and from the heart. Therefore, we exchange paintings only for the needs of the shelter,” explains the mother of the young artist Pavel draws pets to order, according to the pets’ photographs and stories of the owner.
In exchange for the painting, he receives veterinary drugs, dog food, meat – everything that may be useful to the shelter. Surprisingly, orders began to come not only from animal lovers from Russia. People from Germany and Spain also want to get a portrait of their pet and take part in charity work. At the moment, the queue of orders is so large that new ones are temporarily not accepted. For the last 40 of his works, the boy managed to get 1100 pounds of food, supplies and veterinary drugs. Without grants from the state, attracting large funds, media support, offices and crowds of employees. The desire and talent of one little caring person may be enough to find a way to change this world for the better.
