American Idol standout John Foster, who captured fans’ hearts with his throwback country tone and easy charm, is now battling something off-stage: a wave of online rumors spreading fast across Facebook. But instead of letting the noise grow, John is setting the record straight—and doing it with the same grace that made America root for him in the first place. And as John himself said best: “Let’s drown out the noise—with a little bit of country.”

John Foster Addresses Rumors and Shares the Truth with Fans

American Idol Top 10 finalist John Foster recently took to Facebook to address several rumors that have been circulating about him — and to help fans get to know the real person behind the voice.

“To help clear things up for everyone following my journey,” he wrote, “I wanted to correct some of the false information I’ve seen floating around online.”

One of the biggest misconceptions? His age. Despite some reports saying otherwise, John clarified that he is not 24 — he’s just 18 years old. He also shared that he’s a proud native of Addis, Louisiana — not Benton, Kentucky, as some have claimed.

“I’ve actually never been to Kentucky,” he added, “but it’s definitely a place I want to visit one day.”

He also addressed rumors linking him to country legend Dwight Yoakam and Sugar Hill Records.

“No, I’m not related to Dwight Yoakam, and I haven’t been signed to Sugar Hill Records or any other label,” John wrote, debunking yet another myth.

To close out his message, Foster reminded fans to rely only on verified sources when looking for updates about him, emphasizing that any official news would always come from his page — the one with the blue checkmark.

“If you’re curious about anything, drop a comment here,” he said. “Either I or someone who knows me well will try to answer. God bless!”

From Unknown Talent to Fan Favorite

John first captured hearts during his audition with a powerful medley of George Jones’ “Don’t Rock the Jukebox” and Conway Twitty’s “Goodbye Time,” which quickly earned him a ticket to Hollywood.

Since then, he’s delivered memorable performances week after week, including Jamey Johnson’s “In Color,” Garth Brooks’ “Callin’ Baton Rouge,” and Brooks & Dunn’s “Neon Moon.” He also touched hearts with an original tribute, “Tell That Angel I Love Her.”

Over the recent weekend, he advanced yet again — first to the Top 12 with an electric performance of Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock,” and then to the Top 10 after taking a bold step by performing without his guitar. His emotional rendition of “I Told You So,” originally sung by Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis, won praise from both judges and fans.

What’s Next for John Foster?

Fans can catch John in action again on Sunday, May 4, when American Idol returns with a “Ladies’ Night” theme, celebrating legendary women in music. The live show will determine who secures a place in the Top 8 — and gets one step closer to winning it all.

With undeniable talent, humility, and a deep connection to his music, John Foster is proving he’s not just a contestant — he’s an artist in the making.
