Armenia’s Law on Holidays and Memorial Days establishes the country’s official public holidays and commemorative observances.
In September 2026, the calendar includes two official holidays, with one designated as a non-working day.
Knowledge and Education Day will be observed on September 1 (Tuesday), marking the beginning of the new academic year across the country.
Independence Day will be celebrated on September 21 (Monday) and is an official non-working public holiday.
The Armenian Apostolic Church will also observe two important religious occasions during the month:
The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Khachverats) on September 13.
The Forefeast commemorating the discovery of the relic of the Holy Cross on Mount Varag on September 22.
These dates hold cultural, educational, and religious significance and are observed throughout Armenia in accordance with national traditions and the church calendar.
