18-Year-Old Woman Reportedly Abducted in Verin Dvin Returns Home

New developments have emerged in the case of an 18-year-old woman who was reportedly abducted in Verin Dvin village on August 16.

According to an earlier account provided by one of the young woman’s relatives, the incident allegedly occurred in front of her mother. The relative claimed that several men used physical force against the mother before taking the 18-year-old woman away.

The family subsequently contacted police and expressed serious concern because they initially had no information about the young woman’s whereabouts.

According to the latest information provided by Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the individuals allegedly involved in the abduction have been identified and one person has been arrested. Police have also released footage related to the incident.

The young woman has now returned home and is with her mother, according to her relative.

The relative said that the woman persuaded those who had taken her to go to a police station by telling them she would state that she had accompanied them voluntarily. However, once at the police station, she reportedly told officers that she had been taken against her will and filed a complaint concerning the alleged abduction.

According to the relative, the young woman says she was not subjected to sexual violence. She has nevertheless filed a formal complaint regarding the alleged abduction and reportedly does not intend to withdraw it.

The circumstances of the incident remain subject to investigation. The arrest of a suspect does not establish guilt, which can only be determined through the appropriate legal proceedings.
