New details have emerged regarding the death of Armenian serviceman Edgar Gevorg Gevorgyan, whose body was found with a gunshot wound on August 23.
According to information obtained by 24News, Gevorgyan was 22 years old and from Yerevan. The outlet reports that he was serving at one of the military units in the Vayk area.
Earlier, Armenia’s Ministry of Defense officially confirmed that the serviceman’s body had been found with a gunshot wound at an N military unit.
The ministry said an investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the serviceman’s death.
No official information has yet been released establishing whether the incident involved suicide, homicide, an accident or other circumstances. Therefore, conclusions regarding the cause or responsibility would be premature until investigators provide additional findings.
According to 24News, this is the third reported death of a conscript in non-combat circumstances this month.
