The Armenian Apostolic Church will celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Khachverats) on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
The feast is observed on the Sunday falling between September 11 and 17 and is considered the principal feast dedicated to the Holy Cross and one of the five major feasts (Tabernacle Feasts) of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Khachverats commemorates the return of the Cross of Christ to Jerusalem from Persian captivity and its subsequent elevation and glorification at Golgotha.
The Armenian name “Khachverats” literally refers to the raising or exaltation of the Cross, reflecting the central meaning of the feast.
