Female Contract Soldier Reportedly Fainted During Certification Exam: Defense Ministry Responds

According to information available to us, a female contract service member reportedly fainted during a firearms training certification exam several days ago.

A source said the woman’s condition deteriorated during the examination and that an ambulance was called, after which medical professionals provided assistance. The source also claimed that adequate conditions for providing first aid had not been ensured at the certification site.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense, however, said that the relevant unit had recorded no cases of hospitalization caused by a deterioration in a service member’s health during certification.

The ministry’s spokesperson explained that certification is an ongoing process involving hundreds and thousands of service members. The examinations cover physical fitness, firearms and drill training, as well as professional subjects.

It was also explained that physical fitness examinations may involve demanding exercises, and a participant’s condition could potentially deteriorate during such activities.

The ministry’s statement specifically addresses the absence of recorded hospitalizations and does not, by itself, confirm or deny the reported incident in which an ambulance was allegedly called.
