Armenian Parliament Adopts New Oath for Government Members

The National Assembly of Armenia has discussed in the second reading and fully adopted a bill amending the Law on the Structure and Activities of the Government.

According to information from the National Assembly cited by Iravaban.net, Justice Minister Srbui Galyan presented the proposed text of the oath to be taken by members of the Armenian government.

The oath reads:

“For the sake of the perpetuity, independence, sovereignty and development of the Republic of Armenia, I swear to conscientiously perform my duties as a member of the Government, uphold the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia, serve the public interest, protect the interests of the state, contribute to strengthening Armenia’s statehood and constitutional order, and act in the interests of present and future generations.”

Arman Yeghoyan, a member of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and the co-rapporteur on the bill, said no proposals had been submitted between the first and second readings.

He called on lawmakers to vote in favor of the legislation.
