Students at Yerevan schools will have an extended two-week autumn break in October due to the COP17 conference taking place in Armenia, according to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport.
Classes in Yerevan will not be held for one week during the event. To compensate for the missed lessons, schools in the capital have been operating on a six-day schedule from September 15 for five consecutive weeks.
As a result, the regular one-week autumn break will effectively be extended to two weeks for Yerevan students during the COP17 period.
Meanwhile, an order by the Minister of Education has established the general academic calendar and school holiday dates for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Classes for students in grades 1–12 began on September 1, 2026. The academic year will end on May 21, 2027 for schools operating a five-day week and on May 22 for those operating a six-day week.
First Grade
Autumn break is scheduled for October 19–30, 2026 under a five-day schedule and October 19–31 under a six-day schedule.
Winter break will run from December 28, 2026 to January 22, 2027, or through January 23 for a six-day school week.
Spring break is scheduled for March 15–26, 2027, or through March 27 under a six-day schedule.
Second Grade
Second-grade students will have their autumn break from October 26–30, or through October 31 for schools with a six-day week.
Winter break will run from December 28, 2026 to January 22, 2027, extending through January 23 under a six-day schedule.
Spring break is scheduled for March 22–26, or through March 27 for a six-day school week.
Grades 3–12
For students in grades 3–12, the standard autumn break is scheduled for October 26–30, 2026, or through October 31 under a six-day schedule.
Winter break will run from December 28, 2026 to January 8, 2027, or through January 9 for schools operating six days a week.
Spring break is scheduled for March 22–26, 2027, extending through March 27 under a six-day schedule.
The temporary schedule in Yerevan is connected with COP17 and is intended to compensate in advance for the school days that will be missed during the conference.
