Two rescuers suffered smoke inhalation while responding to the fire at the Tsitsernakaberd electrical substation in Yerevan, Interior Ministry spokesperson Narek Sargsyan said.
According to Sargsyan, one of the rescuers was hospitalized, while the other is receiving medical assistance at the scene.
“As of 20:10, we can say that there is no open flame and the fire has been contained,” Sargsyan said, adding that approximately 11 firefighting crews were involved in the operation.
According to the spokesperson, the fire broke out in one of the transformers, which contained approximately 25–30 tons of oil.
The fire was reported at the Tsitsernakaberd 110/6 substation on Tsitsernakaberd Highway at 17:07 on September 27.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
