Doctor and television presenter Alexander Myasnikov has warned that severe headaches that wake a person during the night may be a sign of life-threatening medical conditions.
Speaking on the Russia 1 television program “About the Most Important Thing,” the doctor explained that such headaches could be linked to dangerous conditions including a brain aneurysm, tumor, or serious infection.
According to Myasnikov, doctors pay close attention to certain “red flag” symptoms. One of the most concerning signs is when a headache wakes a person from sleep for the first time.
The specialist also noted that headaches appearing for the first time after the age of 50 may require medical attention. In addition, headaches that worsen or improve depending on body position, especially when accompanied by speech problems or numbness, should not be ignored.
Myasnikov stressed that people experiencing such symptoms should seek medical evaluation as soon as possible.
