Pashinyan Says Armenian People Should Decide Between EAEU and EU Future

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that the decision on whether Armenia should remain in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) or move toward the European Union should belong to the Armenian people.

Speaking during a campaign event in Kotayk region, Pashinyan said it is not his role alone to determine the country’s geopolitical direction.

“I am not the one who will decide. The people will decide whether to remain in the EAEU or become part of the European Union,” the prime minister stated.

According to Pashinyan, the government’s task is to ensure that Armenian citizens have real alternatives and opportunities to choose the country’s future path.

He also criticized reactions from some international partners that, according to him, respond to such discussions with threats, even indirectly.

“Those partners who respond to this with threats, even hidden ones, are acting against themselves,” Pashinyan said.
