Pets have long become family members. Alas, their inability to speak, combined with human forgetfulness, sometimes leads to deplorable situations. It’s good that there are volunteer organizations concerned with the protection of animals! Maddy lived with her people for more than 12 years. The dog was happy. However, in 2017, the family had to move from a suburb of Houston to a neighboring one, and shortly before leaving, the pet was lost.
Hurricane Harvey buried the last hope of finding a four-legged friend, causing significant damage to local infrastructure. Maddy had a microchip with basic data, but they couldn’t update it. The last hope was the Lost Dogs of Texas Facebook page. When one of the volunteers discovered the little fugitive in early 2021, the data from the chip turned out to be useless, but their comparison with the information on the site yielded results. Thanks to a special program, the family was found literally in a day!
They never forgot Maddie, didn’t replace her with other pets, continuing to search. And when the fluffy was returned, they immediately surrounded her with affection and care. The old dog has finally returned home. And as if there were no four years of separation: general attention, hugs, love. No one wants to lose loved ones, but it is this experience that allows you to feel the value of relationships.
